How to Quit making New Year Resolutions and Start Self Improvement

Hey girl!!! I hope you brought the New Year in with people and things that you love. I was always taught how you spend your NYE is how the rest of your year will turn out. If your home is dirty and cluttered then it will be that way all year… If your broke, you will be broke all year… And if you have a funky outlook on things well guess what. Yup! ALL YEAR. LOL! I don’t necessarily agree with that but I do believe how you start your year is important.

This year was TOUGH! I learned a lot about my personal health and started a new position at my job. Learned some lessons and got some reality checks. I think all these things needed to happen for me to kick my butt into gear and GET MY LIFE TOGETHER as I always like to say.  Sometimes Life hits you like a ton of bricks and causes you to slow down and get your life together when you’re out here not doing what you need to be doing (i.e spending frivolously, not saving, not investing in your future, not feeding yourself spiritually and not taking care of your emotional health).

I started to panic. Here come the negative thoughts and me being me I start to think the extreme that I let another year past me and I didn’t accomplish this or that. I start feeling sorry for myself when instead of beating myself up I need to do some self-reflection on what I did accomplish and work towards self-improvement.

What ways can we be grateful? Are there things you are proud to have accomplished this year? Name something you’ve learned? How many new things did you see or do this past year? Writing these things down can give you some perspective on what exactly you managed to accomplish and how far you have come in the last 365 days.

I like to make vision boards and see how my thoughts manifest into actions. I am a firm believer in speaking things into existence and I don’t want to block any of my blessings.. your girl needs them ALL! Here are 5 things that I want to work on improving this year.

  1. Finances
  2. Setting realistic workout and eating habits
  3. Minimizing clutter in my home
  4. Spiritual Relationship/Goals
  5. Getting this blog together

I encourage everyone to make a vision board or start a journal with your goals and aspirations and put time limits on them and see how your goals and visions manifest this year. Let’s start the year off right with clear goals on how to get to the next step.
