BRUNCH AT BRIM KITCHEN & BREWERY
Brunch is one of my favorite meals of the day. A few weeks ago hubby and I tried out a new place for brunch. Brim Kitchen & Brewery located in Willoughby, OH it has been on my list of must-try restaurants. I am on a personal mission to try as many brunch places as I can because who doesn’t love a good brunch and cocktail.
We decided to go for Brunch on a Saturday around noon. The restaurant was not crowded and we got seated right away. The restaurant has great lighting and plenty of space. Their specialty is beer and they have an in-house brewery.
They have high tables on one side of the restaurant and low tables on the other sides. There is more seating at the bar and upstairs they have an outside patio and bar.
I ordered a French 75 which is Gin, Fresh Squeezed Lemon, Simple Syrup and Champagne. I did not care too much for the flavor combo. It was pretty strong for my taste but I did not feel like sending it back so I just drank it. My husband ordered a Mr.Kringle which is Apple and Plum Christmas Ale. If you are not familiar with Christmas Ale it’s a popular beer here in Cleveland which you can read more about here.
I ordered the chicken and waffles and hubby ordered eggs, benedict.
The chicken and waffles came with a cheddar jalapeño waffle, apple slaw, and honey buffalo chicken breast.
The chicken breast was really good and could be a stand-alone dish. The waffle I did not care too much for. The slaw had little to no flavor and could have been left off altogether in my opinion. The waffle had too much syrup and was a little too soggy. I think if all the pieces were separate maybe it would have tasted better but overall I was not impressed. I would go back to the restaurant for the good service and ambiance but I would definitely have to order something else.
Hubby loved his eggs, benedict. It came with smoked brisket, sunny side up eggs, hollandaise, English muffin and a side of breakfast potatoes. I tasted the potatoes and they were pretty good. He said the brisket was flavorful and that the dish overall was around a seven or eight out of ten.
Overall it was good to get out the house and spend some time trying out a new place. I would recommend trying the place out for yourself as it was a nice restaurant/bar. When the weather is warmer outside I think we will go back and enjoy the patio. They have a pretty decent menu with small plates, handhelds, and daily specials. If you want to check out the restaurant’s food or cocktail menu you can find that here.
